Accidental traveller, Devout dog mom and Avid sports fan. Karen enjoys playing sports, making up games and dancing poorly.

Karen graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology before getting her Master’s in Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland. While studying for her bachelor’s degree, Karen started as a respite worker and discovered her passion for finding fun and creative ways to help children of all abilities participate and belong.

Karen uses a client-centered approach that prioritizes the strengths and interests of those she works with. She believes that finding success and being active looks different for everyone and works collaboratively with children and families to discover and achieve their goals. Karen is passionate about finding creative ways to adapt activities so all children can have access to sports, recreation and movement that is fun and meaningful to them.  

In her personal time, Karen stays active by playing sports such as ringette and floor hockey. She also enjoys playing video games, binge-watching TV shows, drawing, writing, cheering on the Oilers and spending time with her dog, River and her cat, Bob.
